I think there is something to the idea of feng shui. When I find myself struggling with a painting, I move my easel, my paints, and canvas to the other side of the room where I work so that I am facing it from a different direction. What I find surprises me. I can see why I was having such a hard time and often correct it. I may not stay there long, but having a different view seems to get me back on track well enough to continue in the direction and spirit I was going in originally.
